As production begins nearing for the RTX 3080, rumors of another card are circulating.
NVIDIA is planning to begin production on their new 3080 video card in August, with a release in September. However many are talking about a 3090 being produced alongside the 3080 as their new flagship video card.
Many were writing this off as confusion since the flagship model has been the 80Ti series (i.e. 2080Ti) models for several years past. But many are reinforcing the rumor, so we could possibly see a 3090. There are no technical specs or benchmarks out, but we should be hearing more as we near the production date in August.
Either way, we’re excited to see whats next! Maybe it’ll be worth upgrading from my current 2080 setup.
For those not familiar with the series – Outlast is a horror series which had 2 installments prior to Trials. Outlast 1 & 2 were released in 2013 and 2017, respectively. The series has been acclaimed to create extremely spooky environments and scare the living daylight out of you. I can personally attest to this. Which brings me to my next point…
The new Outlast with have COOPERATIVE PLAY. Will the game still be as terrifying if you have 3 other buddies playing the game with you? I am excited to find out. Initial impressions from the trailer are still as eerie as ever. It doesn’t tell much, but the game will be set in the cold war era. All we get to see are some doctors drilling into your head and installing night vision.
The next scene shows someone trying to help you, I guess alluding to the co-op aspect.
Currently the game is scheduled to release for PC in 2021.
Players are changing this setting to make enemies have a brighter glow.
As I was perusing social media, I began to notice that players had their enemies outlined in a yellow glow. I thought it was spectator mode or a replay, but I realized their enemies were glowing during a live match.
I looked into it and realized everyone was using settings designed to aid those with color vision impairment. So apparently if you turn on colorblind mode, you can see all your enemies in full color plus an extra glow.
You see how wild that image is. This definitely makes it easier to spot enemies. It will also change a couple graphics, but the only one I could notice was the red barrier walls on the mini map changed to yellow. You can access this setting in the General tab and at the very top, the 2nd option is Enemy Highlight Color. You can choose between purple or yellow, the latter being much easier to see.
Twitch releases their own karaoke platform for all.
Quarantine may be semi-over, but for those who are still staying home to reduce risks, you can still enjoy karaoke with friends from the comfort of your own home. Twitch released their own karaoke platform titled “Twitch Sings”. It’s a platform built by twitch for everyone and includes support for live streams.
The platform already has an impressive start. It is quite intuitive and has hard to find features missing on other karaoke apps/machines. You can style your avatar that sings on a stage or use your webcam and have a full on performance. You can also modify the mic output as well to a have effects like studio, hall, chorus, and best of all AUTO TUNE. So fear not if you can’t sing all that well. The game will play back your performance as well, which you can publish and share…or delete if you didn’t sound as good as you thought you did.
The song selection is not enormous, but its not bad at all, you’ll find tons of your favorite bangers and sing alongs. They do have backstreet boys though, so does anything else really even matter? Some selections even have guide vocals to help you out in case you are tone deaf like myself. The game also tells you if you are on pitch or not.
But…is karaoke alone in your room really all that fun? It is, but even if it wasn’t, YES – twitch sings has multiplayer. You can sing solo, duet, or even have a party with up with 5 people and take turns singing!
I’m really impressed by this platform so far – finally someone properly blends karaoke with a social platform properly.
So we’re a few days into Valorant 1.0 release. They introduced one new agent, Reyna, aka, the most OP agent. Let me give you a rundown of all of her abilities and why they are broken as hell.
Leer – this is her flash bang ability. Except it can go through walls and stays in the air for a period of time and blinds (near sights) anyone that looks at it during that time. You can dodge it by not looking at it, but guess what, your back would be turned to her and she could just mow you down. You could also just shoot it down with a couple shots, but that means taking your aim away from Reyna/enemies and pointing your gun at the orb, which gives enemies PLENTY of time to gun you down first. The funniest part is that this is probably her least overpowered ability.
Devour/Dismiss – Reyna can also buy a pool of 4 charges that can be interchanged between using devour or dismiss. If she kills an enemy she is able to choose between these two skills to activate. Devour, heals Reyna to FULL health, yes, she can literally leave every skirmish with an enemy and if she kills them, regain all of her health, up to 4 times in a round. Her other choice, dismiss, instead makes her invincible and transparent (but still visible), giving her more move speed to reposition herself after killing someone. But Riot decided that this wasn’t already OP enough, so Reyna can OVERHEAL herself and gain more than 100 health….
So we haven’t even talked about her ultimate ability yet and her abilities are all 5x stronger than all the other agents in the game. Her flash makes Phoenix’s look useless in comparison and she can heal much faster and more times than Phoenix. Her mobility skill outshines Jett’s as well. Reyna becomes invincible and quicker when she moves away, while Jett can only dash once (unless she gets 2 more kills) and Jett can still be shot and has a delay after the dash ends before she can shoot again.
I guess this didn’t already seem broken enough, so Riot decided to give Reyna the most ridiculous ultimate ability ever seen in any competitive shooter game. EMPRESS. Once she activates her ult, Reyna gains – INCREASED FIRE RATE, INCREASED RELOAD SPEED, REDUCED RECOIL. Wow, seems like a pretty strong ult, BUT THAT’S NOT ALL. She can also now see all of her enemies outlined in a bright red glow making them 3x easier to spot.
Her ult is so ridiculous, it requires another paragraph to explain what else it does. Her ult also modifies her devour dismiss abilities. Whenever you get a kill while you have your ult active, it will devour the enemy, automatically…without using an orb. Yes, you heard me, you get a free heal after every kill while in Empress mode. Also, if you trigger dismiss during Empress, you actually become fully 100% invisible and invincible to the enemy, letting you move anywhere you want with no detection. With all of this going on with her ult, you would think you could just wait for it to run out before fighting her, right? Wrong. Her ult timer, which is already long off the bat, RESETS every time she gets a kill. Don’t forget that if she has full armor, she can overheal to having a total of 200 health.
There is no other agent that is currently this imbalanced.
Which clown designed this agent and got it approved? I thought I was playing Valorant, not League of Legends. I hope Riot doesn’t follow the same path and make new agents overpowered so everyone spends money to buy them.
The unconventional mecha-membrane hybrid keyboard gets an update.
The Ornata keyboard has kept its place as a very niche product. Most enthusiasts have transitioned into mechanical keyboards, but some subset of users still prefer the slightly dampened feeling of a membrane keyboard. The Ornata has been a favorite among those set of users, providing keys that provide tactile feedback, but still have some bounce to them. The keycaps are also quite slick, featuring something closer to a mid height setup.
Razer finally released an update which is simply called the Ornata V2
I’ve felt this keyboard myself and found it very pleasant to type on. The shorter keycaps feel great and the tactile click is every bit as good as a real mechanical keyboard; I personally don’t like the “bottom out” feeling of mechanicals and usually place O-rings on my keyboards. So the Ornata strikes a perfect balance between membrane and mechanical.
Those that I’ve spoken to that own this keyboard also rave about it as well. It is also not obnoxiously loud, which sometimes can be a huge selling point.
Razer is also committed to shipping quickly, which is very reassuring as I’m still dealing with other products/companies I’ve ordered during this pandemic that are still stuck in limbo, months later.
Valorant full release on June 2nd, 8 AM ET alongside big patch.
Riot has already released the patch notes for us to study before hopping back on!
Valorant is back at last after being down for a few days to get ready for the full release. There is quite a big patch alongside the release which includes many character re-balances, map updates, a new map, and new agent.
You can read the entirety of the patch notes from Riot, but here are some big changes:
New agent Reyna
Heavy nerfs to Sage – longer healing orb cooldown, less barrier health & duration (Ouch, my main)
Raze blast pack radius reduced
Jett smoke duration up to 7 seconds
Phoenix blaze duration increased and longer flash duration
Omen heavily reworked
New map Ascent
Mid on Split is more open now
Lots of performance/bug updates
New spike rush game mode
No ult charges for dying not caused by enemy players
There won’t be any competitive mode upon release, as expected. This allows some time to ensure that everything is stable after release and new non-beta players have a chance to get acclimated to the game. I’m pretty bummed that Sage got nerfed and the new buffs to all the offensive heroes might make the game lose some of its defensive centric tactics, but we’ll see how it pans out this week.
Get ready to play here if you haven’t already installed the game.
